GUC STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES
A range of services and student support programs are offered at
the GUC – from orientation and accommodation services, careers
advice, study strategies, counselling and learning skills programs,
to the student association and social activities – everything to
ensure your needs are met.
If you are returning to study after a long break, allow yourself
time to adjust. You may be anxious about whether you will be able to
pass, or whether you can afford to study. Your concerns are normal.
We provide support and assistance through the following services:
- Career information and planning advice for courses offered
- Child care information
- Counselling – confidential assistance with personal matters
- Course information for current and prospective students
- Disability support – providing a complete university
experience through assistance and equity to students who have
special needs
- Financial assistance – information about financial matters,
including budgeting and scholarships
- GUC Alumni - through Friends of the GUC
- Study skills – courses are offered on an occasional basis
- Orientation
- The first point of call for academic staff who may have
issues or concerns regarding a student
All staff and students are welcome to access counselling and
health services from their ‘parent’ university. In addition, for
staff and students who would rather have access to face-to-face
counselling, a local service is available in Geraldton through two
