The Early Childhood and Primary programs are fully supported with a two hour tutorial/workshop at the GUC for each unit of study. Many of these units of study are also shared with Secondary Teaching students while more general academic support is provided across Secondary teaching discipline areas.

All students also undertake assessed practicums in local schools throughout the program.

Graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Teachers Registration Board of WA.

GUC’s successful partnership with CQUniversity to deliver pre-service teacher training is the subject of a research paper titled, ‘The Geraldton Universities Centre Report – Partnerships with Community.’

Authored by CQUniversity Dean of Education and Arts, Prof Bill Blayney and Deputy Dean/Head of Course – Bachelor of Education (Primary and Early Childhood),Dr Angelina Ambrosetti, the report highlights the success of the GUC supported mixed mode model.
