Local uni students value GUC support

Milla_Student Survey winner

With our latest student satisfaction survey results just in, it’s official.  GUC students overwhelming value the opportunity to study a university degree locally.

Key responses show that GUC students highly value the support provided by GUC academics and support staff.  Services featuring in the “extremely valuable” range in the survey included:

  • Locally run residential schools
  • Free wifi
  • Academic Coordinator support
  • Admin/enrolment support
  • Face to face tutorials
  • 24 hour study access
  • Help getting ready for professional/practical placements
  • Support during professional/practical placements
  • The ability to graduate locally
  • Access to a GUC tutor

Students were also given the opportunity to provide free comments throughout the survey.

“Locally situated and smaller sized classes mean you are not just a number in a larger group of students, personalised delivery of service from the admin staff, and easy direct access to lecturers”

Most respondents were aged between 18-24, studying full time, and entered their course via a university bridging program, such as the STEPS university bridging program offered here at the GUC.
Access to GUC 24/7 study hall also rated highly with GUC students with one commenting

“….I think it is super beneficial that the study hall is 24hr access because it allows me to study free of stress and distraction whenever I need.”

The GUC offers higher education degrees through partnering universities, CQUniversity, UniSQ, and Curtin University, combining online learning with face to face academic support.

I just really appreciate the units being supported and offering local lecturers with face to face tutorials for remote students. The hybrid of online and face to face works perfectly for me.”

One student summed up the sentiments expressed, explaining why they had chosen the GUC as:

“… sense of on campus connection and professional help and tutoring along with the availability of the degree I wanted to study.”

You could be part of this supportive learning community.  Applications for 2023 university study, including bridging programs if you don’t already meet university entrance, are now open.  Visit guc.edu.au for details.
